Have you ever said,
“I just can’t stop…”
(drinking, smoking, watching porn, playing video games)
If you want to reduce or stop, we can help.
Addiction behaviors are activities used in excess to the point of harming areas of life such as work, school, or social interaction. Often, this excessive use is to try to avoid reality or unpleasant emotions. It could also be described as distracting oneself from life problems or suppressing self-awareness. This could be playing 16 hours of video games each day, using drugs such as marijuana or alcohol, acting out, pushing others away, or pretending to be something/someone other than yourself.
Diagnosis and treatment of the underlying reasons for addiction behavior. Such as a psychiatric or mental health disorder, a cognitive or “thinking” problem, or a physical health problem. We focus on prescribing medication(s) in conjunction with fundamental teachings of psychotherapy using a harm reduction model.
A harm reduction model for addiction treatment is a way to help people who use drugs stay as safe and healthy as possible. Instead of requiring clients to stop using to receive treatment, harm reduction focuses on lowering the risks and problems that come with excessive (drug, porn, video game) use.

With over a decade of experience in healthcare, Travis is a dedicated professional with a profound commitment to mental health and addiction treatment. He earned his Master of Science in Nursing as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2024, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2020, and an Emergency Medical Technician Certificate in 2012.
Travis’s journey through adolescence, marked by misdiagnosis and a challenging battle with depression and substance use, profoundly influences his professional approach. Overcoming severe depression and a substance use disorder in his youth, he is now dedicated to providing empathetic, patient-centered care. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, he aims to offer holistic treatment and advocacy for those navigating similar challenges, ensuring they receive the compassionate, comprehensive, and evidence-based care they deserve.
My approach to addiction treatment is based on research of evidence-based therapies, as well as my personal experiences of going through treatment myself.
Addiction isn’t caused by “just” one thing, event, or circumstance. It is a slow accumulation of bad coping strategies that progressively sink you deeper into a giant pile of shit.
That is why I view addiction holistically, considering all potential factors such as relationships, jobs, past experiences, trauma, and mental health illnesses.
My approach is focused on reducing the problems addiction is causing in your life and finding the “root” cause of why you are addicted. A phrase I like to say is, “You don’t have a drinking problem; You have a drinking solution… to your problems.”. Until the underlying problems are resolved, any attempts to quit or cut back will likely be unsuccessful, and you will eventually go back to your tried-and-true solution… your addiction.
At Colorado Clinic of Mental Health, we provide compassionate but firm care and professional expertise to support your journey toward overcoming addiction. We are committed to helping you achieve your goals of reducing or stopping your excessive use (alcohol, marijuana, porn, video games, etc.) and overall emotional well-being through evidence-based treatments, innovative therapies, and a holistic approach tailored to your unique needs.
The first session, crucial for understanding your background and primary reasons for seeking treatment, will be longer than the follow-up sessions and will likely range from 60 to 90 minutes. This ensures that we have adequate time to address your concerns comprehensively. The initial session will also include time for you to complete all required legal documents. Depending on your needs, follow-up sessions will range from 15 to 60 minutes, respecting your time while ensuring we cover all necessary aspects of your treatment.
Colorado Clinic of Mental Health may be right for you if you seek a holistic, comprehensive approach to addiction treatment and you want it from someone who has been through it themselves. If you need a soft touch and someone to hold your hand and say, “Everything is going to be ok.”, we are not the right fit for you.
We believe in direct, honest communication and do not “beat around the bush.” We are here to treat your addiction, not have a nice relaxing picnic on the beach.
We emphasize personalized care, ensuring your voice is central to creating a treatment plan tailored to your needs and what you are willing to do. We provide compassionate, nonjudgmental support, maintain confidentiality, and foster a safe space to discuss your experiences and emotions openly without shame or embarrassment.
We use evidence-based treatments and innovative therapies to help you achieve positive and lasting changes. Whether you are smoking, drinking, or fucking too much, if you are ready to regain control of your life, our services can provide the guidance and support you need to achieve it.
